Images from the Blue Mountains

Spent a weekend in the Blue Mountains with my yoga teachers and classmates. This is the view of the Megalong Valley from Kanimbla Retreat at Blackheath.
And here are some of the flowers around the bush on the property.

  1. The Megalong Valley looks like a good place to spend some time. The Waratah has some flower. I don't recognise a lot of the Australian plants, the white one looks like a shrub of some sort, nice flowers! Have you been doing the yoga a long time?

  2. Hi john! Yes, the Megalong Valley is pretty and the Blue Mountains is a world heritage area. The Australian bush looks very different from anywhere else, except the places that have imported eucalyptus trees (which I've seen in India and the U.S. to name two).

Waratahs are stunning, aren't they? Hadn't seen them in the wild before, only in florists.

I've been doing yoga, on and off, for most of my life, since my sixth class teacher introduced me to a few postures. Have never got extremely proficient, but enough to keep my back supple, I think. What about you?

  3. Yes, good to see them in the wild.

I haven't done any yoga but I do meditate every day though I haven't been doing it for that long, about a year and a half now. Tai chi always looked good to me but again another thing that I haven't done. I like the meditation.

  4. I've tried to meditate, but perhaps not hard enough. Sometimes I think I can manage to still my mind for a few seconds. Is that it? Is that meditation? I try to concentrate on the breath, but even when I'm doing that, I start thinking about my nose, or my ribs or something and then the monkey starts feeding me a stream of related thoughts, and then I've blown it again and started thinking about what I'll buy to cook for dinner.
